Report: Swamp Thing Season 1 May Be Cut Down To 10 Episodes

Although DC Universe’s streaming service is still in its first year, its programming shows some promise. One of its upcoming shows is a new TV adaptation of Swamp Thing, which is set to premiere next month. However, there are signs that DC Universe isn’t as confident in its next original series.

Star News Online reports that the production recently shut down while suggesting that Warner Bros. is reevaluating the entire DC Universe streaming service. According to the report, various crew members were notified Tuesday evening in its change of direction. Supposedly, they learned that the season will end after ten episodes, rather than 13. As a result, writers and producers had to rewrite its ending, which will result in a delay before production resumes.

While Warner Bros. didn’t officially say anything on the matter, one of the series’ stars, Virginia Madsen, shared her thoughts. She put up a post on her Instagram account with a picture of a Swamp Thing figure. In it, she said, “I’m beyond sad. What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp. And despite the rule I am going to use the hashtag. #swampthing.” The post has since been taken down, but images of it can be found online.

Once official confirmation comes from the studio itself, we’ll let you know. But in the meantime, Swamp Thing, even with its shortened episode order, will premiere on the service on May 31.
