Louis Ozawa Changchien Cast as The Hat on Supergirl

ComicBook.com is reporting that Louis Ozawa Changchien is taking on the role of The Hat on an upcoming episode of The CW’s Supergirl. Changchien’s character will join forces with Manchester Black, The Morae, and Menagerie in their fight against the titular heroine.

In DC’s comic book universe, The Hat is the alias of Rampotatek, a Japanese man with demonic superpowers. He possessed a limited amount of invulnerability and was also known for his ability to breathe fire. Manchester Black recruited him to join his new team of antiheroes, The Elite. That team made their debut in 2001’s Action Comics #775, which featured the acclaimed story “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice, & The American Way?” The Elite came into conflict with Superman, who disapproved of their violent approach to heroism. The story was previously adapted for the animated film Superman vs. The Elite in 2012.

Changchien previously had a five-episode stint as Paul Kasoura on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle. He also had a recurring role on another Amazon series, Bosch. More recently, he had a role on Showtime’s Kidding opposite Jim Carrey. In genre, Changchien played Scorch in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and portrayed Hanzo in Predators.

Supergirl is currently on hiatus following the Elseworlds crossover. The event concluded with Kara discovering that Clark Kent / Superman and Lois Lane are expecting a baby. Because of this, Superman decided to take a break from crime-fighting and he left Earth’s protection in Kara’s hands. The series will resume its fourth season on January 20.

The Hat will make his debut appearance in the thirteenth episode of Supergirl season 4. What are your thoughts on Changchien playing The Hat on Supergirl? Give us your impressions in the comment section below!
