Marvel’s new Premium Large Format certification, Infinity Vision, is set to wow fans with the release of Avengers Endgame: Encore and Avengers: Doomsday. A video shows Loki composer Natalie Holt working with a live orchestra to score the Infinity Vision opening, revealing what fans could expect from the format.
The format will also be the intended way for fans to watch the upcoming Doomsday, with Walt Disney pushing for a bigger experience for the MCU project.
According to Marvel’s own press release, Infinity Vision is described as including “big screens with bright images and outstanding sound.” It has been further described as “an incredible theatrical experience”
What to know about Marvel’s Infinity Vision
Infinity Vision is a certification created by The Walt Disney Company that is made to signal to viewers that certain theatres have met specific technical standards of film presentation. The format is going to see its first releases in 2026, first with Avengers Endgame: Encore, and then with December’s Avengers: Doomsday.
There has been some speculation that Infinity Vision might have been developed and deployed in response to Dune: Part Three releasing on the same day as Doomsday, and holding IMAX screens exclusively for three weeks.
Regarding the certification, Andrew Cripps, Head of Theatrical Distribution, said, “Disney’s standards for production quality are second to none, with every single detail of a film finely tuned for an immersive experience. Infinity Vision certification extends that commitment to the theaters themselves, representing a shared effort between The Walt Disney Studios and the exhibition community to help audiences quickly find the very best screens in their area to experience our films in exactly the way they’re designed to be seen — on a huge screen with the sharpest, clearest color and sound.”
According to Bloomberg, the specifications of Infinity Vision include a screen width of at least 50 feet, laser projection, and the 7.1 surround-sound system from Dolby. There is a lot of scepticism around the new format and whether it is going to be able to bring any sort of meaningful change to the theatre-going experience. While IMAX has proven that it adds value to films presented in the format, it remains a very tough act to follow, even for Disney.
