Cody Rhodes has given Marvel fans another reason to wonder whether his next big role could take him from the wrestling ring into the MCU. A new social media clip featuring the WWE star, Marvel Studios, and the unmistakable X-Men ’97 theme has reignited theories that Rhodes may have landed a part in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.

The latest buzz comes from an Instagram Story showing Rhodes signing autographs while the X-Men ’97 theme plays in the background. Fans quickly carried the clip onto X (formerly Twitter), where speculation shifted toward mutant territory. The video does not confirm a casting announcement, but its timing has made the Marvel connection harder for fans to ignore.
Cody Rhodes already has a surprisingly comic-book-heavy résumé. He appeared as Derek Sampson in seven episodes of Arrow, while his Stardust persona is also inspired by superhero and supervillain imagery during his WWE career.
The three-time WWE Champion has also spoken openly about his Marvel fandom, naming Cyclops and Omega Red among his favorite characters. Back in 2016, he even pursued Black Bolt for Marvel’s Inhumans series.
That history has fans throwing practically every mutant name onto the board. Suggestions on X included Cable, Colossus, Bishop, Havok and Angel, while another fan argued that Rhodes could make “a perfect Sabretooth.”
Someone else simply declared, “He’s playing Bishop.” The theories remain just that for now, especially because Rhodes’ Marvel Studios visit could have happened earlier than the new clip suggests.
Cody Rhodes is already balancing two very different worlds. The WWE star recently took a break from TV to head to the set of Paramount’s Street Fighter, where he’s playing Guile. That makes any potential Marvel move an even juicier piece of speculation.
Still, a WWE connection is hardly an automatic ticket into the MCU. Becky Lynch shot material for Eternals that was ultimately cut, while Seth Rollins was attached to Captain America: Brave New World before his role disappeared from the finished movie.
