A new update on the DCU’s Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, suggests the movie might be closer than we think, and should have fans excited.
In a recent episode of the Hot Mic Podcast with Jeff Sneider and John Rocha, Sneider talked about the long-in-development movie. For years now, James Gunn and Peter Safran have been planning on making a Batman movie to introduce the Caped Crusader into the DCU. According to Sneider, the wheels on that might be turning now.
Sneider noted that he’d heard that DC Studios’ current plans are to begin production on The Brave and the Bold sometime next year. Furthermore, Sneider said he actually wasn’t sure if Andy Muschietti, who had been tapped to direct the movie back in 2023, would direct the project, or if it would be Gunn who stepped in to handle Batman duties, like he did with Superman.
What else do we know about Batman: The Brave and the Bold?
Currently, basically nothing is known about The Brave and the Bold. While fans had hoped that Gunn and DC Studios would allow Matt Reeves’ The Batman films to be a part of the DCU, Gunn has no interest in that. Instead, the DCU will have its own Batman, although who will be playing him remains a mystery as well.
Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios’ The Brave and the Bold was originally announced as being directed by Andy Muschietti, who previously made 2023’s The Flash. The project was initially announced in 2023, shortly after James Gunn and Peter Safran became co-CEOs and co-chairmen of DC Studios.
However, there haven’t been many significant updates or announcements regarding The Brave and the Bold since then, although if production is set to begin next year, we might know more soon.
