Lanterns fans think they’ve already cracked the Manhunter‘s identity after just two episodes. A major clue from showrunner Chris Mundy has fueled a theory that continues to gain traction online.

Lanterns fans across social media believe Zoe Macon hides the Manhunter’s true identity after episode two aired on HBO. Showrunner Chris Mundy told Entertainment Weekly the Manhunter is someone “hiding in plain sight.” One user posted on X, “We’re all in agreement that Zoe Macon is the manhunter… Right?”

Episode two revealed that ancient synthetic beings called Manhunters can disguise themselves as other species. Antaan told John Stewart a Manhunter secretly lived among his people before nearly wiping out their civilization. A Green Lantern later captured the culprit, but Antaan believes it survived. He gave John 48 hours to identify the Manhunter now hiding in Rushville.

Fans quickly zeroed in on Zoe Macon as the prime suspect after the episode. Another user wrote on X, “I’m like 60% sure Zoe Macon will be revealed as the Manhunter hiding in Rushville.” They added she could also serve as “the benefactor of William Macon.” One Redditor noted Zoe married a “deeply xenophobic man who’s terrified of the idea of aliens colonizing Earth.”

The same Redditor suggested Zoe “could have been subtly feeding those fears for years.” They also argued that her attempts to divide Hal and John “makes perfect strategic sense” for a Manhunter. However, another Reddit user called her “a red herring” and suggested the true villain remains unrevealed.

Notably, this “hiding in plain sight” theory could also apply to Sheriff Kerry Kane. She has steadily built a connection with Hal Jordan throughout the first two episodes. One Redditor noted she “said she worked hard to be in charge of the town.” Others questioned this theory since Kerry revealed she originally came from Gotham City.
