James Bond or Green Lantern? Aaron Pierre’s Costar Makes the Choice for Him

Aaron Pierre is facing growing speculation over whether he could become the next James Bond. However, his Lanterns costar Kelly Macdonald already has a preference for his future. While she acknowledges that Pierre could be suited to the role of 007, she hopes he remains with the Green Lantern franchise for years.

Kelly Macdonald wants Aaron Pierre to play Green Lantern for years amid James Bond buzz

Kelly Macdonald wants Aaron Pierre to continue playing John Stewart in the DCU despite the actor becoming part of the discussion around the next James Bond. Macdonald, who plays Sheriff Kane in Lanterns, said Pierre could suit the role of 007 but made it clear that she hopes to see him in the Green Lantern role for years.

Macdonald addressed the speculation in an interview with GamesRadar+. “I just feel sorry for anybody that gets [linked] – it sort of gets spoken about too much. Saying yes to a Bond film is a big, big, deal. Lots of people get thrown in the mix. It feels like every week there’s a new person,” the actress said.

While she did not rule out Pierre as a possible Bond, Macdonald made her preference clear. She explained, “He certainly could be [Bond], but I hope to see him as a Green Lantern for many years to come.”

The Bond speculation grew after Henry Winkler publicly endorsed Pierre for the role. After watching Pierre’s performance as John Stewart in Lanterns, Winkler wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Aaron Pierre should be the next BOND.” His comment placed Pierre among the actors being discussed by fans for the iconic role.

Pierre has also responded to Winkler’s endorsement. Asked about the actor’s comments, he said, “I think that is an enormous compliment, and I appreciate it greatly. That’s very kind. It’s a very kind thing for someone to say.” He is already scheduled to return as John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow, which is set for 2027.
