Disney+ has unveiled its must-watch titles ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. However, one major X-Men movie is missing. Fans quickly noticed the omission and questioned the choice online.
The streaming service listed 15 projects for viewers to watch before the December 2026 release. The lineup includes X-Men (2000), X2, Deadpool & Wolverine, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and more. Yet X-Men: Days of Future Past was left out.
Reacting to it, X (Twitter) user @LomboyChristia1 wrote, “The X-Men omissions are telling, no first class or Days of Future Past but Shang-Chi gets a slot.” @ChriB233ZY asked, “HOW ARE WE MISSING ‘Days Of Future Past’ on the list????? @DisneyPlus.” @CGN623 added, “How can X-Men: Days of Future Past not be required viewing? The entire plot is to change the future timeline.”
Why the X-Men movie matters to Avengers: Doomsday
X-Men: Days of Future Past matters because its story revolves around changing history. The 2014 film by 20th Century Fox brings together the original X-Men cast and their younger First Class versions. Wolverine travels back to 1973 to prevent an event that leads to a devastating future.
That timeline-focused story makes the film especially relevant to Avengers: Doomsday. It will bring heroes from three distinct universes. Its confirmed cast also includes Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammer.
The connection is important because Days of Future Past shows how one major change can reshape an entire timeline. That idea fits naturally with Marvel’s current multiverse storyline.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film is slated for release on May 5, 2028. Jake Schreier will direct, while Adam Driver will play Mister Sinister. The cast also includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Christopher Abbott as Professor X.
This new movie marks the first official X-Men entry in the MCU. It follows years of fan demand to bring mutants into Marvel’s main universe.
