Chris Pratt’s Avengers Return Gets Good & Bad Report

Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord may not be done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet. A new rumor has given fans both reason to celebrate and reason to temper their expectations about the character’s potential return to the franchise’s biggest stage.

Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord rumored to return in Avengers: Secret Wars

Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill could suit up once more for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s massive crossover event. Well-known scooper MyTimeToShineHello posted that “Star-Lord will return in Secret Wars,” marking the character’s first appearance since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The third Guardians film ended with Quill back on Earth, and its closing title card promised that “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.” Leaked concept art that circulated online last year appeared to show Quill alongside Vision, Wong and younger heroes such as Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop and Wiccan. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, however, denied the artwork was official.

Pratt addressed a potential return in a recent interview with Happy Sad Confused. “Everything is fluid at Marvel. They take things a step at a time,” Pratt said. “I’m happy to do anything they want, and I personally have a really strong vision of what I would want him to do. I think it’s f*cking great. I’ve made my pitch. I’m down to contribute any way I can to setting up the next 10 years of storytelling.”

Rumors of a solo Star-Lord project surfaced after Vol. 3 but reportedly stalled after director James Gunn departed for DC Studios. A new Guardians lineup formed at the end of that film with Rocket Raccoon as team leader, though no confirmation exists regarding their future MCU appearances.

Avengers: Secret Wars currently targets a December 17, 2027 release, following Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. The Russo brothers will direct both films, returning to the MCU after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
