The Batman 2 Rumor Sees Beloved The Penguin Character Returning for DC Sequel

The Batman 2 could bring back an iconic character from The Penguin.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman 2 is currently dated for 2027. A sequel to 2022’s The Batman, the superhero epic is being directed by Matt Reeves and will see Robert Pattinson reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Who is rumored to appear in The Batman 2?

On a recent episode of The Hot Mic, insider Jeff Sneider hinted that Cristin Milioti may be returning as Sofia Falcone in The Batman 2, also known as The Batman Part II.

Sneider only teased the idea and stopped short of confirming he’d heard definite talks of Milioti’s returning, meaning this is just a rumor. No official plot details regarding The Batman Part II have been confirmed by DC Studios’ James Gunn or anyone else involved with the project at this time.

Rather, Gunn said approximately six days ago that “six of us have read the script” for The Batman 2 and “no one knows anything” about the project yet.

Milioti, however, has expressed interest in reprising her Sofia Falcone role, be it in The Batman 2 or a potential The Penguin Season 2. She said on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, “It feels unfinished to me for sure. Oh my God. I mean, I would love to revisit her, especially because of where we last saw her. So to me, it doesn’t feel finished, but I don’t know. We’ll see.”

She also told Deadline she would “love” the chance to be in The Batman 2 and to share the screen with Zoë Kravitz’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman. She added about Pattinson, “He’s one of our best actors. I would love [the opportunity].”

The Batman Part II currently has an October 1, 2027, release date. Both The Batman and The Penguin, meanwhile, are currently available to watch on HBO Max.
