Ever since Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania disappointed at the box office in 2023, fans haven’t seen Paul Rudd play Scott Lang on the big screen. While Marvel Studios has yet to share any official word regarding his return, Rudd still seems to have hopes of stepping into the shrinking red suit again, as per his recent comments.
Paul Rudd expresses his willingness to return as Ant-Man
In a recent discussion, Paul Rudd conveyed that he is keen to reprise his role of Ant-Man. However, Paul Rudd still maintained ambiguity about his return by stating that anything can happen.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the SXSW premiere of his upcoming movie, Death of a Unicorn, Rudd shared his opinion on his much-awaited comeback to the MCU. “We will see, I don’t know. I mean, that suit is… I feel like I should never be too far from the suit in case they call, but you never know. They know where I’m at,” he noted.
Since making his Marvel debut with 2015’s Ant-Man, Rudd has portrayed the fan-favorite superhero in four additional films. He famously played a pivotal role in Avengers: Endgame, introducing the concept of time-traveling to the titular superhero group. Nevertheless, Rudd has notably been missing from the ever-expanding MCU since 2023, with no official update regarding his return coming to light.
While Paul Rudd’s future in the franchise remains uncertain at the moment, his Ant-Man 3 co-stars, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, can exit the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars. A recent rumor suggests that fans will be saying goodbye to the characters of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne “by the end of the Multiverse saga.” That said, it is still unknown if Douglas and Pfeiffer will be making appearances in the forthcoming Avengers sequels.
