Wesley Snipes is Launching a New Graphic Novel Called The Exiled

Although Wesley Snipes has flirted with the superhero genre on several occasions, he has never actually written a comic book before. But now that’s finally about to change thanks to a new collaboration with Gifted Rebels and PCB Entertainment. Later this year, the publishers and Snipes’ Maandi House Studios will launch a new Kickstarter campaign for a brand new graphic novel called The Exiled.

The book follows Niles “Roach” Washington, a detective who begins trailing a serial killer following a deadly gas attack. “The killer uses tools over 5,000 years old to rip the spines from his victims. But while Roach’s theories about the suspect make him an outcast, he refuses to give up the chase; and his search eventually leads him to discover Earth’s darkest secret.”

“Comics let you explore big worlds,” said Snipes in a statement. “Since Blade, I have been attracted to origin stories and developing characters. Now, I get to build ‘Roach’ as a character from the ground up and I dig that.”

Gifted Rebels president Adam Lawson is penning the script for The Exiled based on a story created by himself with Snipes and PCB president Keith Arem. Gabriel “Eskivo” Santos will illustrate the story, with Valentina Bianconi as the colorist. Arem’s relationship with Snipes actually dates all the way back to the early ’90s, when he was working on Demolition Man’s video game adaptation.

“I’m thrilled to work with Wesley again,” said Arem. “He is a fantastic creative partner, and Adam and I love collaborating with him. The Exiled is a dark reflection of what is happening in the world, and a chance for us to explore new conspiracies and stories.”

The Exiled’s Kickstarter page launches on June 21. The campaign promises a boatload of rewards for anyone who donates. Backers can receive a 140-page Collector’s Edition of the graphic novel as well as a manga-sized “Go Version” and an additional story set in the book’s universe. Additionally, day-one backers will be gifted with a campaign-exclusive 120mm figurine of Roach Washington himself. The creators also teased that The Exiled will include hidden codes for access to digital collectibles and exclusive events. You can sign up for more info here.
