Paul Rudd Meets the Mini-Pufts in Ghostbusters: Afterlife Clip

While fans will have to wait for a few more months before watching Ghostbusters: Afterlife, it appears that Sony is finally revealing a few details about the next installment in the historic franchise. The producers have dropped a scene from the movie featuring Paul Rudd, aka Mr. Grooberson, having a bizarre encounter while grocery shopping. Right after picking his juicy Baskin Robbins (a reference to Marvel’s Ant-Man), Mr. Grooberson meets  the Mini-Pufts, or what’s left of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from 1984’s Ghostbusters. The little, poofy white creatures made their appearance in 2016’s Ghostbusters: Deviations by IDW Publishing Comics. It seems that they are now ready for their live-action debut, albeit slightly different in appearance, possibly with a new origin.

In the story, Paul Rudd’s Mr. Grooberson is a summer school teacher who was a kid when the“Manhattan Crossrip” occurred. While the plot of the movie is still under wraps, it seems that the story connects back to 1984’s bizarre incident in New York. The fact that the upcoming installment in the franchise will feature appearances from most of Ghostbusters‘ original cast almost forty years after its release is another hint in that direction. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts should reprise their roles from the first two Ghostbusters movies, much to the long-term fans’ delight.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife should haunt theaters starting Nov. 11.
