Lucasfilm Teases Animated Star Wars Projects at Disney Investor Day

Disney’s Investor Day has given Lucasfilm the chance to tease several live-action Star Wars films and TV shows in development. However, the studio is also looking to expand its animated output in the years to come. During the presentation, Kathleen Kennedy premiered a new sizzle reel for Star Wars: The Bad Batch. She also announced two new animated series currently in the works: Star Wars: Visions and Star Wars: A Droid Story.

Lucasfilm announced The Bad Batch earlier this year, a few months after wrapping up the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The new series follows the titular squad of “elite and experimental” clone troopers in the post-Clone War era. Check out the new sizzle reel below.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Visions is an anthology series that will see Lucasfilm teaming up with a variety of Japanese animation houses. Fans can expect to see 10 new stories, each one produced by a different studio. According to StarWars.com, the episodes promise to bring “a fresh and diverse cultural perspective to Star Wars.”

Finally, a new animated adventure featuring everyone’s favorite droid pairing, C-3PO and R2-D2, is coming soon. Star Wars: A Droid Story will be a joint production of Lucasfilm Animation and ILM. The upcoming special will also introduce viewers to a mysterious new hero along the way.
