The Mandalorian Season 2 Adds Timothy Olyphant

Casting announcements for The Mandalorian’s highly-anticipated sophomore season continue to trickle out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Timothy Olyphant is the latest actor to join the hit live-action Star Wars series. Unfortunately, the report doesn’t specify which character he’s playing.

Olyphant is perhaps best known for his work on the small screen. He most recently starred opposite Drew Barrymore on Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet. Prior to this, he spent six years starring on FX’s Justified as Raylan Givens, a role that netted him his first Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Olyphant earned his second Emmy nod last year for reprising his role as Seth Bullock in HBO’s Deadwood: The Movie. On the film side, Olyphant has also appeared in Go, Hitman, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Other new additions to The Mandalorian’s cast include Michael Biehn and Temeura Morrison as Boba Fett. Roasario Dawson is supposedly appearing as Ahsoka Tano, but when asked about her involvement recently, she would neither confirm nor deny her casting. Katee Sackhoff is also reportedly playing Bo-Katan Kryze, the character she voiced on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. However, this remains similarly unconfirmed. Additionally, the upcoming episodes will feature  Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez as guest directors.

The Mandalorian season 2 will premiere on Disney+ in October.
