Marvel Reveals Oscar Campaign Posters for Avengers: Endgame

With awards season right around the corner, all the major film studios are beginning to push for their recent films to be honored at next year’s Oscars. Disney and Marvel are certainly no exceptions. Thanks to Twitter user Vahn, we have our first glimpse at the campaign posters for Avengers: Endgame. You can check them out for yourself below.

Both posters are adorned with soundbites from two of Endgame’s most glowing reviews. They also feature glamor shots from the movie’s epic final battle. However, Marvel is hoping the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences appreciate the film beyond its technical wizardry. In addition to sound mixing, sound editing, film editing, and costume design, Disney and Marvel are aiming for a shot at the grand prize. That is, the studios are campaigning for a Best Picture nomination.

It may be true that the Academy doesn’t typically recognize superhero movies in anything other than the technical categories. Regardless, after Black Panther earned a Best Picture nod earlier this year, it makes sense that Marvel would feel emboldened to try again. Even though Black Panther didn’t land that prize, it still took home three other golden statues. The film won Oscars for Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Original Score.

One nomination fans can definitely rule out is a Best Actor nod for Robert Downey Jr.’s final performance as Tony Stark. During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Downey revealed that “there was some talk” about launching a campaign on his behalf. However, he decided not to pursue this.
