Wyatt Russell Cast In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Series

Marvel came out swinging on the first day of D23. At the Disney television panel, Kevin Feige and company revealed that Wyatt Russell has been cast in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+.

Russell will portray John Walker, one of the few men who has taken over the Captain America role in the comics. Walker was previously the Super-Patriot, an egotistical rival to Steve Rogers. When Rogers resigned as Captain America, Walker was the government’s first choice to replace him. However, Rogers ultimately reclaimed his role after Walker proved to be too unstable to be Cap. Instead, Walker took on a new persona: U.S. Agent.

Additionally, Feige confirmed that Emily VanCamp will reprise her role as Sharon Carter for the first time since Captain America: Civil War. Daniel Brühl is also reprising his role as Helmut Zemo, the man who framed Bucky and fractured the Avengers.

Both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan were on hand for a brief appearance on the panel. Mackie’s post-Avengers: Endgame status wasn’t directly addressed, but there were a few shouts of “Captain America!” from the crowd.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to begin filming this fall. It will hit Disney+ in fall 2020.
