Spider-Ham Gets An Animated Short on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Blu-Ray

Last year, Spider-Ham was one of the breakout characters of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Apparently, Sony will be acknowledging Peter Porker’s newfound popularity by releasing a Spider-Ham animated short.

Via Entertainment Weekly, the short will be called “Caught in a Ham,” and it will be included as a special feature in the Into the Spider-Verse Blu-ray and digital releases. Sony has released a brief clip, which shows Porker attempting to eat a hot dog before getting captured. Keep in mind, Porker isn’t actually a pig. He’s a spider who was bitten by a radioactive pig. That’s probably why he still has an appetite for pork products.

The short also borrows some of its humor from the classic Warner Bros. and Tex Avery cartoons, as Spider-Ham quickly outwits his captor.

Miguel Jiron directed the short; while David Schulenburg produced it. In addition to “Caught in a Ham,” Into the Spider-Verse will include 90 minutes of special features. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the co-creators of Spider-Man, are getting the spotlight in one of the features. Other announced features include an Easter Egg hunt and behind-the-scenes clips from the making of the film.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is getting a digital release on February 26. The Blu-Ray will follow on March 19. You can watch the “Caught in a Ham” clip below. Do you want to see more Spider-Ham cartoons in the future? Let us know in the comment section below!
