Comic-Con Preview: Ryan Reynolds Remains Mum on Deadpool Unmasking

Comic-Con starts tomorrow, but ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype got a little sneak preview when we sat down to talk to actor Ryan Reynolds for his new movie Self/less (out on Friday) and we snuck in a quick question about Deadpool, specifically whether we’d be seeing much of Wade Wilson unmasked in the movie (since all the pictures so far have had him fully in costume).

As you can see in the video below, Reynolds didn’t want to give everything away, although he hinted that we might learn the answer to this with the footage from the movie that they are bringing to the 20th Century Fox Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 11 at 5:45 PM.  (We’ll be live-blogging the panel right here and we’ll actually have another interview with Reynolds, his Deadpool director and some of his co-stars from Comic-Con.) You can look for the full video interview over on ComingSoon.net before Friday.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Ryan Reynolds stars as the title character alongside TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character. Reynolds has also expressed a desire that Hugh Jackman might cameo as Wolverine, though it remains unconfirmed as to whether or not he will actually appear.

Tim Miller is directing the movie from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Confirmed to be rated R, Deadpool is scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016.
