Warner Bros. Plans New Digital Series Based on Mortal Kombat, Static Shock and More!

Quite a few new series were announced today for development through Blue Ribbon Content, the new official name for the digital production branch of Warner Bros. In addition to several wholly original series, Blue Ribbon announced (via Mashable) plans for projects based on the hit video game “Mortal Kombat” and the DC Comics superhero “Static Shock,” among many others. Blue Ribbon also confirmed that the previously announced DC Comics miniseries, “Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles” will head to Machinima in 2015. The official descriptions read as follows:

Static ShockWriter/producer/director Reginald Hudlin leads the creative team behind a live-action adaptation of Static Shock, featuring the super hero Static, aka Virgil Ovid Hawkins. Based on the Static comic published by DC Comics.

Untitled Mortal Kombat Series (distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)An all-new series that showcases some of the franchise’s most storied characters, while introducing a new generation of fighters.

Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles (Machinima)Animated shortform series from Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett (producers of the legendary Batman: The Animated Series) will debut on Machinima in 2015. Based on Justice League: Gods & Monsters, an original animated film that will be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment later in 2015.
