Although it’s no huge surprise given the success of this summer’s monster blockbuster, Deadline today confirms that Gareth Edwards’ planned Godzilla sequel will again feature a screenplay by Max Borenstein.
Teased at Comic-Con, the next Godzilla sequel hits theaters on June 8, 2018 and, according to Legendary’s SDCC panel, the King of Monsters will be bringing a few friends (Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah were suggested as potential future foes).
Edwards will first direct his already-announced Star Wars spin-off film while Borenstein is providing the screenplay for another Legendary monster feature, the King Kong-adjacent Skull Island. That film hits theaters on November 4, 2016 and will star Tom Hiddleston.
