Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy to Take on Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules at the Box Office

Universal Pictures’ action thriller Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansson, has moved its release date two weeks earlier to July 25 (from August 8) and will now go up against the Dwayne Johnson-led Hercules, the Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel comedy Sex Tape and the dance franchise entry Step Up All In. Also opening in limited releases on that date are the Anton Corbijn drama A Most Wanted Man, the James Franco-led crime drama Good People, Joe Swanberg’s Happy Christmas, Naomi Foner’s Very Good Girls and Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight.

Written and directed by Luc Besson, Lucy also stars Morgan Freeman in an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

Produced by Virginie Besson-Silla for EuropaCorp, Universal Pictures will distribute the movie worldwide, except for France, Benelux and China.

Update: Universal has also just released a poster for the film which you can check out in the gallery viewer below:
