The upcoming Resident Evil feature film has unveiled fresh posters ahead of its theatrical debut, accompanied by a major announcement for horror fans eager to secure their seats early.
Tickets for the film are now on sale, with new IMAX, ScreenX, and 4DX posters released alongside the announcement. The main poster shows Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, leaning against a wall in complete shock. The phone hangs off the hook beside him.
A second poster shows Paul Walter Hauser’s character clinging to a car as a terrifying creature reaches for him. The 4DX poster shows Bryan sitting on the ground with a gun across his lap. He looks upward in fear.
Resident Evil follows Austin Abrams on a terrifying race for survival
The film’s original story follows Bryan, an everyday medical courier thrust into a nightmarish fight for survival when Raccoon City collapses. Abrams leads an ensemble cast alongside Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.
The new film takes place alongside the events of Resident Evil 2 but follows a different character. Bryan has his own mission elsewhere in Raccoon City during the same night. Zach Cregger told IGN, “This is just another dude on another mission on the other side of town.”
Cregger also wanted the movie to capture the experience of playing the games. He said the story moves Bryan through different locations as new dangers appear. The director specifically pointed to the games’ progression from a pistol to stronger weapons as an influence.
The production also had several practical sets for Bryan’s journey. These include a sewer, a hospital ward, and parts of a skyscraper. The production team also studied creatures from different Resident Evil games when developing the movie’s monsters.
The movie is directed by Cregger and co-written with Shay Hatten. It has a reported runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. The film is R-rated due to brutal bloody violence, graphic content, and pervasive strong language. Resident Evil arrives in theaters and IMAX on September 18, 2026.
