“Meanwhile, in another universe…In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” the official synopsis reads. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

Additionally, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet are playing undisclosed roles in the movie.

Madame Web is directed by S. J. Clarkson, who co-wrote the screenplay with Claire Parker, Matt Sazama, and Burk Sharpless.

The film marks the fourth entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which features a number of supporting Spider-Man characters. The shared world began in 2018 with Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, which was followed by 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage and 2022’s Morbius. Following Madame Web, the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led Kraven the Hunter releases in August 2024 before Venom 3 then hits theaters in November 2024.

Madame Web releases in the United States on February 14, 2024.
