The Batman Opens With $134 Million At the Weekend Box Office

As expected, The Batman was easily the weekend champion at the box office. However, the final amount was higher than the initial $128.5 million estimate. According to Deadline, The Batman‘s revised total for the weekend was $134 million. That was more than enough for the highest opening this year. Batman opens.

This is also the highest opening since Spider-Man: No Way Home debuted in December with $260 million. While The Batman didn’t reach the same heights, Warner Bros. can’t be disappointed with this. It’s the first WB film in over a year that wasn’t simultaneously released on HBO Max. Consequently, The Batman‘s box office wasn’t affected by the streaming option.

Sony’s Uncharted adaptation came in #2 at the box office with $11 million, pushing that film over the $100 million mark. Coming in third place is Dog with $6 million. Amazingly, No Way Home is still at number 4, with $4.4 million over the weekend. That brings up Spidey’s third MCU movie to $786.4 million. While No Way Home will hit digital at the end of this month, the film may still be able to hit $800 million domestically. 20th Century Studios’ Death on the Nile rounded out the top five with $2.7 million.

Looking ahead for The Batman, the month of March is largely uncontested for big releases. This means Batman has very little serious competition in the weeks ahead, which should help it push its numbers even higher.
