Warner Bros. Sets a January Release Date For Dune on Blu-ray
Dune closed out its run on HBO Max over the weekend. But even though the film is still playing in theaters, Warner Bros. has already made plans for its home media release. The studio (via Collider) announced that fans will be able to own Dune on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K on January 11, 2022.
WB also confirmed that anyone who can’t wait that long can purchase the film digitally on December 3. The Premium Digital Ownership price is $29.99. Additionally, viewers can rent the film via PVOD for 48 hours for a slightly more modest price of $24.99.
A movie as big as Dune usually means that the Blu-ray will be jam-packed with bonus content. And judging by the list of special features, it looks like the studio didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately, there aren’t any deleted scenes. But fans can expect a deep dive into the histories of the Atreides family, the Harkonnens, the Fremen and more.
Viewers can also look forward to additional material that explores the construction of several key locations and vehicles from the film. Meanwhile, “A New Soundscape,” hints that it will examine the creation of Hans Zimmer’s epic score. Another featurette will be devoted to exploring how Arrakis’ famous sandworms were brought to life.
