Harrison Ford Suffers an Injury on the Indiana Jones 5 Set

Apparently, Harrison Ford can’t return to one of his most famous roles without sacrificing a limb or two. According to Deadline, Ford injured his shoulder while rehearsing a fight scene for Disney and Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones 5.

Despite this latest setback, it doesn’t sound like production on the sequel is about to slow down. After news of Ford’s injury went public, Disney released a statement on the matter, which you can read below:

“In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder,” confirmed the studio. “Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”

This isn’t the first time that Ford (who turns 79 next month) has hurt himself on a movie set. The actor memorably fractured his leg while shooting Star Wars: The Force Awakens after one of the Millennium Falcon’s hydraulic doors fell on him. Decades earlier, Ford seriously injured his back during production on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Ford also tore several ligaments in his leg while making The Fugitive. However, he refused to seek treatment for the latter until filming wrapped so his character could have a realistic limp.

Ford began working on Indiana Jones 5 earlier this month alongside new cast members Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen. James Mangold is taking over for Steven Spielberg in the director’s chair and also co-wrote the script with Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. Legendary composer John Williams is also coming back to provide the sequel’s music.

Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters on July 29, 2022.
