Jared Leto Introduces an International Trailer For Morbius

Although theaters in the U.S. are still on the ropes because of the ongoing pandemic, Sony’s adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius the Living Vampire is still on track for a theatrical release in other countries. Jared Leto, the actor who portrays Michael Morbius, recently filmed an introduction for Morbius‘ Japanese trailer. In the clip, Leto teases his new film as part of “an expanding universe.” Sony definitely wants fans to assume it connects to the MCU. For example, graphite on a poster calls Spider-Man a murderer. There’s also a glimpse of Michael Keaton, apparently reprising his role as Adrian Toomes/The Vulture.

However, the bulk of the footage focuses on Michael Morbius. His partner and lover, Martine Bancroft (Adria Arjona), desperately try to cure Morbius’ rare blood disease. Unfortunately, Morbius’ cure is worse than the disease. Now, Morbius is stronger and superhumanly fast. But he also thirsts for human blood.

Matt Smith also stars in the movie as Loxias Crown, while Tyrese Gibson plays Agent Stroud, the man dedicated to taking Morbius down. Jared Harris also has a role in the film, which remains unrevealed.

Morbius will hit theaters (at least in Japan) on March 19, 2021.
