Kat Dennings Doesn’t Think She’ll Be Back For Thor: Love and Thunder

When Thor: Ragnarok opened in 2017, it notably omitted a handful of supporting characters from the previous two Thor movies. One of the missing cast members was Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis, who served as a primary source of comic relief in the earlier films. Later this year, Dennings will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Disney+’s WandaVision series. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like this will lead to more adventures in the God of Thunder’s orbit.

Entertainment Tonight recently caught up with Dennings ahead of WandaVision’s premiere. Naturally, she couldn’t reveal much about her role in the upcoming series. But when asked whether she will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, Dennings made her doubts known.

“No, still no idea!” said Dennings. “I don’t think I’m in it. I feel like I would have heard by now. So literally my answer is I have no idea, I have even less an idea than I did before.”

Last month, Chris Hemsworth said that Love and Thunder will start production in January. So if Taika Waititi wanted to include Dennings, he probably would have reached out to her already. Regardless, one character who is definitely coming back is Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. She will make her debut as the Mighty Thor in the film. And even if she isn’t involved, Dennings is still excited to watch this story play out onscreen.

“I thought it was genius, the most genius thing I had ever heard,” added Dennings. “I think it’s so brilliant. I mean, [Portman], you know, she’s a rock star actor, she can do anything. As a fan, I’m just excited to watch it.”

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on February 11, 2022.
