John Boyega Is Open to Returning for a Star Wars TV Show

It appears that John Boyega might not be done-done with Star Wars after all. Not that long ago, the actor was very critical of Disney, who, according to the actor, pushed his character to the side in the new Star Wars trilogy. But in a recent interview with Yahoo, he revealed that he might reconsider returning to a galaxy far, far away for an animated show.

“I’m a Mandalorian fan, so Lucasfilm is doing very well with the TV shows,” he said. “An animated show would be dope! We could do it from home.”

In the Skywalker saga, Boyega played Finn, a former stormtrooper who flees the First Order and joins the Resistance.

In the same interview, the actor reflected on the plans for Finn in Colin Trevorrow’s scratched film. The movie never got the chance to see the light of day after Trevorrow left the helm of The Rise of Skywalker due to creative differences back in September 2017. According to some leaked details, Finn should have led a rebellion on Coruscant together with Rose.

“I think Colin Trevorrow was going to tell that story,” Boyega said. “That image of Finn with the blue flag, and you have the AT-ATs lined up with tribal marks, and the stormtroopers take off their helmets. That would have been sick! That would have been dope, man, hands down.”

It doesn’t look like Lucasfilm has any plans for Finn or any other character from the new trilogy for the near future, as they focus on The Mandalorian and The High Republic for now.
