Wonder Woman 1984 Designer Compares Diana’s New Outfit To the Batsuit

Later this year,  Wonder Woman 1984 will debut Diana’s new Golden Eagle costume. While comic book fans have seen Wonder Woman wear a similar costume in Kingdom Come, the film’s trailers were the first time many viewers had seen it in action. But according to Wonder Woman 1984 costume designer  Lindy Hemming, the Golden Eagle has more abilities that are yet to be revealed.

Via Heroic Hollywood, Hemming told Total Film that Diana’s new outfit was similar to the Batsuit. That’s something Hemming is very familiar with, since she worked with Christopher Nolan on The Dark Knight.

“It’s like the Batsuit, or anything: all small parts,” noted Hemming. “An armadillo-like articulation means that the person can move and twist and turn, and it will return to its previous position. Having said that, it was not pleasant to wear — and no armor of any kind is pleasant to wear!”

Additionally, Hemming said that the Golden Eagle acts like an “one-woman formation of shields, so no one can attack her.”

Gal Gadot and Chris Pine are reprising their respective roles as Diana/Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor. Kristen Wiig will also star as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, with Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord.

Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on Friday, October 2.
