Star Wars Celebration Organizers Plan a Virtual Convention for May 4-5

This year’s convention season has taken a few big hits thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. But ReedPop, the promoters behind Star Wars Celebration, are gearing up for another Star Wars-themed event that anyone can participate in from the comfort of their own home. Via The Hollywood Reporter, the organization will launch An Online Revelry: May the 4th Be With You and Revenge of the 5th next week.

As its name implies, this virtual convention will kick off on Monday, May 4. Throughout the day, fans can join live-tweetings of all three films in the original Star Wars trilogy. Various ReedPop-affiliated accounts will also host watch-alongs for an episode of Star Wars Rebels as well as the series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which hits Disney+ that same day. Plus, viewers can visit Facebook for Q&As with The Clone Wars’ Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Rebels’ Vanessa Marshall (Hera Syndulla).

On Tuesday, May 5, the fun continues with watch parties for Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. There will also be a  roundtable discussion featuring some of the most prolific Star Wars comic creators, including Charles Soule, Greg Pak, and Kieron Gillen.

Virtually every major con originally scheduled for this summer has been canceled in the wake of the current health crisis. However, ReedPop has yet to make a similar decision about the upcoming Star Wars Celebration festivities. As of now, the event is still on track to take place in Anaheim from August 27-30.
