Warner Bros. Announces Joker Blu-ray and Digital Dates

It remains to be seen whether Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix will once again team up for a Joker sequel. Regardless, their collaboration is still a massive financial success, which will likely carry over to home media formats as well. Warner Bros. has finally revealed when fans will be able to own Joker on digital and Blu-ray. The studio made the announcement with a short video posted to the movie’s official Twitter page. You can check it out for yourself below.

Joker will be available to purchase digitally on December 17. Anyone who wants to own a physical copy of the movie has to wait a little bit longer. The film will also arrive on Blu-ray on January 7. Warner Bros. has yet to share any cover art or a full list of special features that will accompany the release. However, Phillips previously told Collider that we can rule out any deleted scenes because they were “deleted for a reason.”

Back in October, Best Buy shared the cover art for its exclusive Joker 4K Steelbook case. It’s a safe bet that the film’s standard Blu-ray edition will be graced with a different design. Joker has a future in the streaming market as well. HBO Max recently confirmed that the movie will show up on platform when in launches in May 2020.

Last month, Joker officially became the first R-rated movie to cross the billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office. Warner Bros. is also pushing for the film to be recognized at next year’s Academy Awards ceremony. The studio is reportedly pursuing Oscar nominations for Best Director for Phillips, Best Actor for Phoenix, and Best Picture.
