Lucasfilm Shares a New Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Featurette

Over forty years ago, George Lucas’ Star Wars revolutionized blockbuster films and gave birth to a franchise. While the franchise will continue, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker represents the end of an era. Now, Lucasfilm is celebrating the upcoming milestone with a new featurette. However, the best part of this video is a glimpse behind-the-scenes of the original. In the initial clip, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, and Alec Guinness practice a scene in the Millennium Falcon. For most of the cast, it leads to some hilarious moments.

Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams are also glimpsed in the video, which cuts across the core films in the series. Additionally, there is a brief look at The Rise of Skywalker near the end of the video. However, the bulk of the feature is focused on the past rather than the present.

J.J. Abrams is helming The Rise of Skywalker, after kicking off the new trilogy in The Force Awakens back in 2015. This film will also mark the final performance of the late Carrie Fisher. Her appearance in the movie will be comprised of lost scenes from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters on Friday, December 20.
