What we want in Thor 4

Chris Hemsworth Reveals Thor: Love and Thunder’s Start Date

Marvel Studios plans to unleash Thor: Love and Thunder at the tail end of Phase Four of the MCU. Writer and director Taika Waititi is no doubt currently fine-tuning the sequel’s story and getting ready to cast new characters. But now, Chris Hemsworth himself is offering an idea of when cameras will start rolling on the God of Thunder’s next standalone film.

Via ComicBook.com, Hemsworth participated in a panel at Tokyo Comic Con this past weekend. Naturally, the subject of Love and Thunder came up. And while he couldn’t reveal any plot details, he did share his excitement about getting to revisit Thor after the fallout from Avengers: Endgame.

“Lots of love and lots of thunder,” said Hemsworth. “You can expect that. I haven’t seen the script yet. I know they’re working very hard on it and pretty excited to bring you something pretty fresh and new again. But having left Endgame, where Thor was, we have a lot of room to move there and drastically change again, which is very, very exciting. But we start shooting that sort of mid-next year.”

Waititi confirmed last month that he finished his first draft of Love and Thunder’s screenplay. Of course, he has a lot to do between now and the middle of next year. Between promotional efforts for Jojo Rabbit, his upcoming role in The Suicide Squad, and production on his current project, Next Goal Wins, it definitely seems like the director has his hands full. However, he promised that Love and Thunder will “be bigger and louder and more bombastic” than Thor: Ragnarok.

Thor: Love and Thunder opens on November 5, 2021.
