Harbinger Movie Jumps From Sony To Paramount

Four years ago, Sony Pictures and Valiant Entertainment announced ambitious plans for their own cinematic universe. Sony picked up the rights to Valiant’s Bloodshot and Harbinger with an eye towards making the crossover film, Harbinger Wars. However, these Valiant Cinematic Universe dreams may be on hold, now that Harbinger has jumped to another studio.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures is the new home of the Harbinger film. While the project will undergo redevelopment, director Justin Tipping is still helming and co-writing the film with Joshua Beirne-Golden. Neal Moritz also remains attached as producer alongside Toby Jaffe and Dan Mintz.

Harbinger was created by Jim Shooter and David Lapham in 1992 for Valiant’s original incarnation. The revived Valiant rebooted Harbinger in 2012, but the core premise remains the same. The series follows enhanced humans Peter Stanchek, Faith Herbert, Charlene Dupre, John Torkelson, and their non-powered friend, Kris Hathaway as they rebel against Toyo Harda, the most powerful man alive. Harda is also a “Harbinger,” and his abilities far surpass nearly all others.

Vin Diesel Reveals First Look At Bloodshot Movie

Now that the film rights to Bloodshot and Harbinger have been split, they are unlikely to meet up on screen. However, Valiant retains the rights to most of its other books, including X-O Manowar, Eternal Warrior, and Archer & Armstrong. Presumably, a non-Bloodshot VCU is still possible.
