Report: Kit Harington is Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Earlier this year, the Game of Thrones finale revealed the fate of Kit Harington’s Jon Snow. While that story may be over, Harington’s immediate future is starting to come into focus. According to Deadline, Harington has been enlisted to join an upcoming Marvel Studios project. Unfortunately, the nature of his role remains unknown.

Harington has kept a low profile since Game of Thrones ended. If this new report turns out to be true, it will mark his first significant role since the show’s finale aired in May. Apart from that beloved series, he also lent his voice to the How to Train Your Dragon franchise as Eret. Additionally, he has appeared in films like Pompeii, MI-5, and The Death and Life of John F. Donovan. In 2017, he starred in the BBC miniseries Gunpowder.

Given Harington’s star power, Marvel probably has him lined up for a leading role. At this point, it’s not even clear if he’ll show up in a film or on one of the studio’s new live-action Disney+ series. Regardless, Deadline’s report notes that more details are likely to break during the D23 Expo this weekend.

Harington isn’t the only Game of Thrones veteran to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Richard Madden is gearing up to play Ikaris in The Eternals, which arrives in theaters next fall. Other GoT veterans who have joined the MCU include Peter Dinklage (Eitri in Avengers: Infinity War), Iwan Rheon (Maximus on Inhumans), and Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick in Iron Fist.
