Sony Reveals Blu-ray Special Features and Release Date for Brightburn

Now that the movie has finished its theatrical run, Sony Pictures has announced the official Blu-ray release date for Brightburn. The horror superhero story arrives on digital August 6, then it will hit stores a couple of weeks later. In spite of the fact that the movie wasn’t a massive box-office sensation, producer James Gunn has teased the making of a sequel. In the meantime, Gunn is working on the upcoming The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, so it may take a little longer to see the project on the big screen. That gives everyone time to catch up on the first one this summer.

As for the special features, fans will be treated with a “Hero-Horror!” featurette, as producer James Gunn and screenwriters Brian and Mark Gunn talk about their filmmaking style and their storytelling process. Then, actor Jackson A. Dunn will join the Gunns in the “Nature vs. Nurture” featurette, which will dig deep into what motivates and moves our new anti-hero, Brandon Breyer. Additionally, there will be a filmmaker commentary with director David Yarovesky, and lastly, actor Elizabeth Banks, James Gunn, and director Yarovesky will host 3 “Quick Burns” vignettes.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

Brightburn hits stores on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and DVD August 20. Are you going to but Brightburn in Blu-ray? Let us know about your plans in the comments section below.
