Report: The Suicide Squad Will Begin Filming in September

Although the full casting details have yet to be locked down, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad might be ready to begin production in just a few short months. A new report from The Geeks Worldwide suggests that filming for the quasi-reboot to the series will kick off this September. It also notes that the Atlanta shoot will wrap up in January 2020.

Warner Bros. hasn’t confirmed these dates, so this falls short of an official announcement. However, the studio may share additional details at San Diego Comic-Con next month. Gunn jumped on board the project back in late 2018. A number of actors are returning to their respective roles from the original Suicide Squad film. Returners include Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg. Margot Robbie may also reprise her role as Harley Quinn.

However, there will be some new characters joining the fray as well. Idris Elba will headline the film as a yet-unidentified character, though some reports suggest he could be portraying Bronze Tiger. Michael Rooker was rumored to portray King Shark, but Rooker has since denied the report. David Dastmalchian (Ant-Manwill appear as Polka-Dot Man.
