Kevin Feige Says Marvel Has Pursued Keanu Reeves For Years

Ever since the first John Wick movie premiered in 2014, Keanu Reeves has been enjoying a career renaissance. This year alone has already given Reeves a third entry in the John Wick saga, a role in Toy Story 4, an appearance in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, and a meme-ready cameo in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe. There’s even a petition for TIME Magazine to make him their Person of the Year. With all this newfound success, where could Reeves show up in the future? If Kevin Feige gets his way, the actor’s next destination will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While speaking with ComicBook.com, Feige revealed that Reeves has been considered for several Marvel Studios films in the past. Although it hasn’t worked out just yet, Feige is still hopeful that his day in the MCU will come.

“We talk to him for almost every film we make,” said Feige. “I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Feige compared the situation with Reeves to the studio’s relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. Apparently, Marvel spoke to Gyllehaal “multiple times” before finally drafting him to play Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. More recently, Reeves was rumored for a role in The Eternals. Before that, he reportedly came close to joining Captain Marvel as Yon-Rogg, a role that ultimately went to Jude Law.

Currently, Reeves is returning to the franchise that made him a star in Bill & Ted Face the Music. Production on that film started earlier this week.
