Tom Holland Spoils the Elementals’ Origin in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Warning: There are possible spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: Far From Home!

The Elementals have been a source of mystery ever since the first Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser dropped in January. In the film’s latest trailer, Nick Fury revealed that “the snap” opened a dimensional gateway that brought the creatures into the mainstream MCU. Despite this, several viewers maintain that they’re illusions created by Mysterio in order to make himself look like a hero. We won’t know who’s right until the move opens next month. However, Tom Holland recently appeared to confirm that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck is as exactly friendly as he seems.

As /Film notes, the MCU has experienced a total of three snaps courtesy of Thanos, Bruce Banner, and Tony Stark. Until now, it was anyone’s guess as to which one heralded the Elementals’ arrival. But during a Far From Home promotional appearance, Holland specified that Thanos’ original Decimation is to blame for their entrance. You can listen to what he had to say below.

“Mysterio is actually my new best friend,” said Holland. “We team up to fight these Elemental creatures. When Thanos snapped his fingers, these creatures came through the dimensional rift.”

Holland famously has a problem when it comes to keeping MCU spoilers under wraps. It’s gotten so bad over the years that the scripts for the last two Avengers films were allegedly off-limits to him. The crowd’s loud response in the video indicates that the actor committed yet another faux pas. But then again, maybe the Russo brothers managed to teach him something about misdirection while filming Avengers: Endgame?
