Avengers: Endgame’s Chinese Poster Honors the Fallen

In the build up to Justice League, Warner Bros. made the unfortunate choice of pretending that Superman wouldn’t be in the movie. While Avengers: Infinity War dusted half of the universe, Marvel doesn’t appear to be making the same mistake for Avengers: Endgame. The fallen heroes were given their own solo posters earlier this week. Now, the Chinese poster for Endgame has arrived, and it prominently features the fallen in silhouette.

From left to right, Shuri, Vision, Bucky/Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Mantis, Star-Lord, Gamora, Nick Fury, Spider-Man, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Drax and Groot are draped in heavy shadows below the main image of the heroes. Wong and Valkyrie are now a part of the primary image. Meanwhile, Thanos looms large behind them. It’s a definite improvement over the last Endgame poster. The original six Avengers also appear to have equal exposure on this poster. Regardless, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man still has the prime position. Tony Stark’s story kicked off the MCU over a decade ago. It’s only fitting that he gets the spotlight in potentially his last film as Iron Man. However, there’s still a strong possibility that Downey will remain in the MCU in a limited capacity. It’s too soon to call.

So far, Marvel has managed to keep most of Endgame‘s secrets under wraps by using only minimal footage from the film. Marvel has also downplayed its slate of upcoming films in an attempt to create some suspense about which characters will be back. However, it’s inevitable that the dusted will return. The real question is how the surviving Avengers will be able to pull that off. The film reportedly has a runtime around 3 hours, so we can reasonably assume it won’t be an easy solution.  It’s also the end of Marvel’s 22 film “Infinity Saga,” which may pave the way for major character deaths.

If Marvel’s previous films are any indication, it will also tease the shape of things to come.
