Jared Leto Shares a Teaser From the Set of Morbius the Living Vampire

Although Jared Leto made quite an impression as the Joker in Suicide Squad, he’s not limiting himself to one comic book role. The versatile artist will portray Michael Morbius in Sony’s live-action film adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius the Living Vampire. Although Morbius debuted as a Spider-Man villain, Sony is going to try to make him into a movie star. Within the Marvel Universe, Morbius was an award-winning biochemist who was imbued with pseudo-vampiric superhuman abilities due to a failed biochemical experiment.

To mark the end of’ the first week of production, Leto shared the following image from the set of Morbius the Living Vampire.

Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. Director Daniel Espinosa (LifeSafe House) and will helm the movie, which was written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Netflix’s Lost in Space). Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Jared Harris (Mad Men), and Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) have supporting roles in the film.

In addition to Morbius, Sony is reportedly developing films for Silk, Silver Sable, Black Cat, and even Nightwatch. However, it remains to be seen which, if any, of those films will follow Morbius into production.
