Here’s how to play Squid Game’s Ddakji

Ddakji is a well-known traditional game played in South Korea with the help of folded paper tiles. Below are the rules to make and play this game.

  • Gather Your Supplies

To start playing this game, the most important thing required is origami paper. Players need numerous sheets of colored square origami paper. If one is unable to find origami paper, there is no need to worry. Players can use construction paper to cut into squares.

  • Fold the Paper Into Thirds

After cutting the paper into squares, players need to fold it into thirds. This can also be done with the help of a ruler.

  • Fold the Corners

Once the paper is folded into thirds, one needs to fold the left corner up and the right corner down.

  • Make a Second Unit

The players need to make a second unit by using a second sheet of paper by following the second and third steps.

  • Join the Units

The next step is quite simple, which is to join the folded units.

  • Fold the Flaps

Further, players need to fold the papers in a cross formation on top of one another. First, fold the top flap down, and underneath will be the right flap. Next, fold the bottom flap up, and underneath will be the left flap.

  • Complete the Ddakji

The last step is to assemble all the ddakji properly and start playing the game. Ddakji is a game that begins by choosing a throwing player. After the throwing player is chosen, the opposite player needs to put their ddakji paper on the table or any platform. The throwing player will throw his tile to flip the other player’s tile to keep it, and it continues.
