At Last, a 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles April O’Neil Movie Figure

Reporter April O’Neil is an absolutely crucial character in nearly every iteration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ story. In their first big-screen bow, that held just as true as ever. But at least in that case she wasn’t, as most companies say, toyetic. In an attempt to ground the movie, April just looked and dressed like a normal person. And “normal” action figures don’t sell well at mass retail.

But collectors want her like crazy, and NECA has now obliged. Their action figure of April, approved by actress Judith Hoag, is now up for preorder at their online store. She’s $29.99, and comes with reporter’s microphone, handbag, Raphael’s sai, alternate head, and multiple hands. A $99.99 edition with a yellow jacket and Judith Hoag autograph sold out almost immediately, but the regular version has an open preorder for two weeks.

Hoag did not continue the role in the sequels, which replaced her with Paige Turco. But the first movie remains the most beloved. And she, in turn, the most popular live-action April. NECA’s ensuring that everyone who wants her can get her, but collectors cannot miss the two-week window. Secondary market prices will likely go through the roof afterwards.

Will April shower your collection with reporterly action? Let us know in comments!
