LEGO Makes Its Most Detailed Ecto-1 Set for Ghostbusters: Afterlife

LEGO‘s no stranger to the Ghostbusters team’s main ride, but they’ve never gotten this detailed before. In preparation for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which drags the iconic Ecto-1 out of an old barn and back into action, the original brick-building toy company unleashes a brand new take. Featuring all new steering wheel and windshield parts, this LEGO Ecto-1 set comes courtesy of Michael Psiaki, who previously designed the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin.

The goal here was to do a feature-filled replica rather than a minifig-scaled vehicle. As such, it does not come with movie characters. Instead, the set comes loaded with play features. Like a slide-out jump seat, working steering wheel, and wheel-activated “ghost sniffer,” among other things. For extra quality, the classic logo gets a printed element rather than a sticker.

Per the official release, the LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 contains 2,352 pieces and measures over 8” (22.5cm) high, 18” (47cm) long and 6” (16.5cm) wide. LEGO will make the set available starting November 15th.

The official synopsis of Ghostbusters: Afterlife reads, “From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Gil Kenan & Jason Reitman.”
