Exclusive Star Trek Riker Facepalm Bust Flatters Picard With Its Imitation

Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701D remains the Star Trek character best known for facepalming in frustration. At the very least, more online fans have memed him as such than any other character. But the facepalm is hardly an unfamiliar gesture in the future world of the Federation. Benjamin Sisko and Odo made the gesture quite a bit on Deep Space Nine, and now Picard’s Number One becomes the number two guy immortalized in bust form for it. William Riker may typically be more known for swinging one leg over the backs of chairs, but the Riker facepalm made it to “Comic-Con” exclusive status this year.

Icon Heroes previously announced a Picard facepalm bust through Diamond. The Riker facepalm, however, can be ordered directly from the company rather than through Previews. Here’s their official word: “2020 has been a frustrating year for many people, and you can express that frustration with this Commander Riker collectible executing the hilariously famous facepalm maneuver. This 7.9 inch mini bust paperweight is limited to just 1701 pieces, features a painted Starfleet insignia on the base, is made of polystone, hand painted, individually numbered, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.”

A bust alone can’t capture the Riker leg-swing, so a company that makes full-body statues may have to take that on. But the more facepalm busts, the merrier. Let’s see James T. Kirk in the pose. Or Seven of Nine. Make it an annual summer tradition, and some fans who otherwise ignore busts might just start facepalm collections.
