Elaborate Japanese Palpatine Figure Set Is Fit for an Emperor

Don’t call it a comeback. Palpatine has, presumably, been here for years if he’s resurfacing in The Rise of Skywalker. We don’t yet know how, or what he’ll look like, but Bandai‘s S.H. Figuarts Star Wars line is giving the classic version full Imperial treatment. Their new Palpatine figure comes not just with a throne, but two royal guards, along with the requisite multiple hands, lightning, and cane.

With elaborate robes, this version of the man now called Sheev looks just as life-accurate sitting in his throne or standing in poses. And it’s a level of accuracy that comes at a price. Though he’s a 6-inch scale figure, the leader of the Empire costs a whopping $309.99. On the plus side, he does come with two royal guards. However, they’re more decorative than playable, as they sport no articulation. Which is fair, however, since they maintained the same pose throughout their onscreen appearances.

“And now, young Skywalker…you will die.” Wait till Palpatine figures out he outlived both Luke and Anakin Skywalker. And we all figure out how exactly a Skywalker can rise after that. Luke had no kids…as far as we know. Or as Obi-wan might say, from a certain point of view.
