Alien: Earth Season 2 Predictions: What Deaths May Come

The first season of Alien: Earth is done, and many are writing their praise for the show across the stars, hungering for more, eager to see what could happen next.

I wasn’t a huge fan of that last episode, thinking it spent too much time gently putting pieces into place for its next big story arc instead of littering the island with their bodies, but the rest was so good that I, too, find myself anticipating another offering. We’re likely to be waiting a while for Alien: Earth Season 2, which gives fans plenty of time to theorycraft, argue about who might live, which character may die, and most importantly, what The Eye is like in her spare time. There are a ton of elements in play and a galaxy of potential for each of them, so here are a few wild predictions based on the little we know and a whole lot of guessing.

Our predictions for Alien: Earth Season 2

The Lost Boys

Wendy and the gang are at the forefront of the action after they turned the tables on the Prodigy Corporation. Their time is now, but if we look at the movies as a source, it’s hard to think that the future looks bright for these hybrids. Now, there could be some retcons; maybe hybrids are still there, but just not in great numbers, or Wendy takes her crew to hide out somewhere. However, that’s most likely wishful thinking. The future of the Alien universe seems meant for the synths. That doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun along the way.

Assuming they all survive this confrontation with the incoming Yutani forces, the Lost Boys will have their chance to ‘rule,’ as Wendy said. We saw that these kids can be quite violent when necessary, especially Nibs. The question is whether they’ll keep that contained to the island or try to take more: a company, a continent, a world. Tootles (Isaac/Steven) is out of commission currently – death by insect – but we did hear discussions of a possible reboot, a way to salvage him, so let’s consider that he could make a return, potentially with a much different attitude. Curly (Jane) loves her new body and abilities, freed from her wheelchair, but she wants more, and that took the form of trying to become Boy Kavalier’s favorite. She’s aligned with the other hybrids right now, but I’m not so sure she wouldn’t be easily swayed if the offer to be something more came up. Smee (Christopher) is still very childlike and enthusiastic, so we’ll probably get to enjoy seeing those traits stomped out of him, and hope he keeps a little bit of that playful nature for fun. We see him help Slightly even though Smee knows it isn’t right, but being so easily coerced and manipulated could spell bad news for this hybrid. Speaking of Slightly (Aarush), he likely still has that communicator in his neck, and Morrow could still speak with him, but after their whole ordeal together, I imagine we’ll see a darker side from him, especially since he already has Arthur’s death under his (bed) belt.

Nibs and Wendy are probably the more interesting members of The Lost Boys and will likely take center stage out of the group. After her trauma from being attacked by The Eye, a supposed ‘pregnancy,’ her memory being reset, and the loss of a prized stuffed animal, Nibs (Rose) looks ready to wage war and take everything. She seems hungry for the world, wanting what she’s missed out on, and maybe experiencing a type of phantom pain from things she can’t experience now after experiencing a rough transition into being a hybrid. I have to imagine Nibs isn’t done killing and will be hard to contain. Lastly, Wendy (Marcy) is a little more than a mentor now; she’s a leader, and feels even more responsible for those under her, which will likely influence her decisions more. We know she loves her brother, Joe Hermit, but after seeing her anger when he subdued Nibs, it seems obvious that the two will clash again, and the results are probably going to be more disastrous. Wendy has a lot of power, not only in her robotic body and the massive amount of technopathic abilities she’s shown, but also in the two Xenomorphs as well. She’ll likely rely on them a lot and test the limitations of her technological influence, leading to discoveries about what makes her special or causing her to burn out.

Those who used to be in charge

It’s easier to make predictions for the heroes because they usually have more obvious paths and hog the spotlight, but I’m extremely interested in what will happen to their apparent oppressors, who ended the last episode in a cage. Most of these characters were left alive so they could try to turn the tables again in Alien: Earth Season 2, which shouldn’t be a problem, considering how bad security has been on this island. Though I’m excited that Morrow is still with us, he definitely needs a win to justify his continued presence here. Kirsh outmaneuvered him, even (sort of) beat the cyborg in a one-on-one fight, so now Morrow will need to take some revenge and at least complete part of his mission to prove his worth to Yutani. However, something tells me that he might go a bit further, perhaps even leading to a turn on his own company. I’ve been thinking about Morrow’s daughter, how long he’s been away, what a man like that really wants after so much time has passed, and even if his future is likely to meet a gruesome end, I’m eager to see what kind of blaze of glory he could go out in. Once he accomplishes one goal, something tells me that won’t be enough.

I’m a little less interested in the rest of the ‘villains’ here. I do love Kirsh, but he’s currently not doing too hot, and it seems like instead of being a double agent or something more, he’s just a synth who is more like David and willing to let people die to satisfy his scientific curiosity. He used Slightly and Smee to capture Morrow, showing in the end, he’s still loyal to Prodigy. Maybe there is something else, a longer game, though I think this might go another direction. With Wendy having so much power over machines, is it possible she could reprogram him, turning The Lost Boys’ former guardian into a new kind of protector? The same could happen to Atom Eins, who is excellent in the show, but doesn’t seem to have much purpose, other than perhaps being confirmed as the synth daddy built in Boy Kavalier’s backstory and getting a little payback on Wedny for making him look bad.

Speaking of Kavalier, he’ll most likely get the upper hand again in Alien: Earth Season 2 if we are once again denied his death in a timely manner. I expect him to finally show off that intelligence and break out some sort of killswitch or other safety protocols to help him overtake his new captors. He has to have something with that smile and awkward laugh at the end, right? Dame Sylvia looks to be on a path of redemption, at least temporarily, so I imagine these two will clash. I need both of them to die, but since the pair made it this far, maybe they can both find success to some degree in their endeavors until their tragic ends. Kavalier should either fall victim to The Eye, finally have that conversation he wanted so bad, or a Xenomorph, at least, and Sylvia will likely be ripped apart by one of her own children, since her motivations concerning their well-being could easily be defined as questionable at best.

The other players

That takes care of the humans and machines, but what about the aliens? We kind of know what the Xenomorphs want to do, create more of themselves, right, but they only have so many eggs. I have to wonder if this might somehow lead to one of those being a Queen or some new type we haven’t seen yet, assuming they don’t already see Wendy in that role in some odd fashion. Either way, these titular creatures need more screen time before they are likely destroyed, so that as few people as possible know of their existence.

The other specimens seem pretty content, but they may want to reproduce as well, like the bugs. Let’s hope they all thrive. The Eye (T. Ocellus) is more intelligent and in need of a body, so the chances are it’ll get a much-needed upgrade to tangle with the Xenomorphs again. She probably can’t possess them because of the acidic blood, but maybe they can do something else. That’s a fight that deserves a round two. Alien: Earth will likely try to stick somewhat to the canon in its future seasons, but I doubt anyone will be upset if we get more Eye time or let it conquer a small planet. Depending on who it takes over and how good the creature is with technology, The Eye could be the most terrifying threat to Earth’s safety.

Darkening the tone

The tagline for Alien: Earth Season 2 is, “We were safer in space,” and I want that. Let’s see some fear, people running, terrified, and a whole lot more death. We can hope for surprises, betrayals, and maybe a couple of small fan service moments, but let us see the desperation and feel those ‘all is lost’ moments before the hard rock kicks in to conclude the episodes. I want the other corporations to react, trying to get a piece of the pie through violence, probably devouring Prodigy in the process. Maybe since most of our main cast are in bodies that don’t age, we could do a time jump to where the whole planet is in worse shape and the hybrids are hiding amongst the synths, still plotting how to take over. Whatever happens, I just hope everything feels bleaker and incredibly dystopian, where the humans really are just food and no one is safe, whether it be from corporate greed, machines, or aliens. I need to believe that no one will survive past what comes next.
