A new Midnight Universe trailer readies Marvel fans for some dark new takes on Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. The new Marvel Comics storytelling initiative officially kicks off in October.
The Midnight Universe is a new publishing line that lets creators reimagine iconic Marvel heroes with terrifying twists, horror elements, and more. Midnight Spider-Man #1 comes from Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc, Midnight Fantastic Four #1 is by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker, and Midnight X-Men #1 is created by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte. All three issues are scheduled to be released on October 7, 2026. They will be the only Marvel comics that are released on that day.

What do we see in the Midnight Universe trailer?
The trailer — which features some never-before-seen artwork from all three titles — highlights emphasizes that Midnight X-Men will very much be about vampires. Midnight Fantastic Four, meanwhile, will send Marvel’s First Family out into the cosmos to uncover some terrifying discoveries, while Midnight Spider-Man appears to be leaning into body horror in a twisted and exciting way.
Marvel Comics said in a press release about the trailer, “With boundaryless storytelling and rich interconnected mythology, the Midnight Universe offers an exciting entry point for new readers while giving longtime fans a thrilling new take on their favorite heroes. In Midnight Spider-Man #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc, Spider-Man discovers that with great power… comes something monstrous. In Midnight Fantastic Four #1 by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker, a scientist’s curiosity accidentally unleashes ancient terrors upon the world while also transforming himself and three others in strange and horrifying ways. In Midnight X-Men #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, the X-Men’s battle is no longer one of acceptance, but of survival…and blood.”
